Francisco Riego is a Spanish-born artist based in London. He studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), from which he graduated in 1998. Having explored other creative areas, he focused on photography as a means of expression. Varied in terms of approach, his work is permeated by overtones of introspective emotion. The built environment, the natural landscape and the relationships between representation and subjective significance are some of the main concerns in his search, in which the poetic prevails over the explanatory. Riego has lived and worked in Spain, Italy and Ireland. In 2011 he moved to the UK, where he has since been based.
